Form study sketch models are developed in the early stages of a project and allow our designers to quickly and effectively evaluate human factors, ergonomics, configuration options and aesthetics. These models are typically hand-carved or sculpted from materials such as urethane foam or foam core board. They are especially useful in our focus group studies when seeking feedback on the product’s shape, and overall look and feel. Sketch models give the design team opportunities to assess ergonomic factors and provide insight into visual aspects of the product’s final form. Due to the materials used, these models are generally crude and are not fully representative of the final intended design. |
