:: Create objects by pressing a material through a die of a specially shaped cross-section::
In the extrusion process, tooling is typically inexpensive. The process is appropriate for both low volume and high volume production. However, secondary machining is typically required for adding notches, holes or other features.
In our design of the GBC binding machine, we chose the extrusion process because it provided inexpensive, upfront tooling costs necessary with low volume production units. The use of aluminum provided a rigid component for the semi-industrial machine, and was completed with a higher-end anodized finish appropriate for our client’s market segment.
